Krishna
Janmashtami Celebration
4th September, 2007
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
observed this holy grand day of Lord Krishna’s Birthday,
on the 4th of September, 2007.
At 8 am in the morning, at the Shri Padmawati Sameta
Shri Balaji Shrine in the Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi
Temple, the Temple Priests started the morning
celebration with Abhisheka of milk, honey, ghee, sugar,
curd and Kumkum. It was then followed by Ganga water
Abhisheka.
Then our Ashram Panditjis offered Balaji Puja and Laddu
Gopal Puja to Lord Krishna. Arati was then performed and
Prasad was distributed to all, which concluded the
morning service.
In the evening, our Temple Priests offered devotional
recitals of Vishnu Sahasra Nama Parayana with Tulsi (the
holy Basil or Tulsi-leaves are very dear to Lord
Krishna), followed by chanting of Krishna’s birthday
songs, infusing in all devotees a heart-felt love and
appreciation for Lord Krishna. Arati then followed and
Prasad was distributed and shared amongst all
participants.
