Brahmotsava-Celebration in
Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir,
on 7th and 8th April 2009

to start the
Brahmotsava-Function. |
The annual Brahmotsava of
Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir was celebrated in a
highly ritualistic and grand manner. The Brahmotsava
Celebration lasted for two days. It started in the
morning of 7th April and lasted till the late night of
8th April 2009.
On 7th April, the celebration
started in the morning at the Yagnashala of
Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir with the Sthapana of
Ganapati Kalasha and Maha-Kalabhairava Kalasha followed
by Kalasha Puja and Hawana by Chief Priest Suresh
Shastriji in the presence of Swami Vishveshwarananda,
Swami Satchidananda, Kumari Somashekhari and other
devotees and residents of the Ashram. After Hawana the
Kalashas were taken inside Omkara-Mahaganapati Temple
and Lord Maha-Kalabhairava Temple and Abhisheka was done
followed by Arati and Prasad distribution.

The evening programme began with
the Sthapana (establishing) of 1000 small Kalashas, in
front of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi in the Mandapa of the
Temple. Kalasha Sthapana for every Pranapratishtha Deity
was done in the Temple. Omkarananda-Kamakshi Navavarana
Puja was performed. Late in the night, after 10 PM,
Arati was performed and Prasadam was distributed. With
this, the first day celebration came to conclusion.
Swami Vishveshwarananda, Swami Satchidananda, Kumari
Somashekhari and other devotees were present on this
occasion.
On 8th April Brahmotsava began
with Lalita-Sahasranama Hawana followed by Moola Mantra
Hawana for all the Pranapratishtha Deities of the
Temple. This was followed by Kalasha Yatra, i.e.
Parikrama, around the Temple in which Swami
Vishveshwarananda and Swami Satchidananda along with
Temple Priests and other Ashram Residents and Devotees
participated.

Panchamrit Abhisheka for all
Deities, followed by Sahasra Kalasha Abhishekam for
Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi was performed. Thereafter the
Devi was decorated beautifully and Arati was performed
and Prasadam distributed.

In the night a special
Navavarana Puja of Goddess Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi was
performed in the Garbha Griha (Sanctum sanctorum). At
the conclusion of this wonderful, elaborate Puja,
Suvasini Puja was performed and Prasadam was
distributed.
